Dunn Gallery welcomes three new artists for the September exhibit “Ribbons and Stars.” Gary Sanders, Jay Shepard and Bruce Trojan join gallery artists showcasing themed wood art.

Sanders creates lathe-turned boxes from various woods then places them in a contrasting wood ribbon base to elevate the box. Sanders finds inspiration for each ribbon base from ocean wave patterns.

Trojan uses brightly colored composite to accent his signature works. Trojan turns and sculpts multiple wood components for each piece before the addition of vibrant ribbons.

Shepard is introducing “Stargazing on the Big Island” from his Syzygy series. He blends his woodworking and painting skills to create unique polychrome and lathe-turned vessels. These works are inspired by the observation of the Big Island night sky.

Dunn Gallery is located at 54-3862 Akoni Pule Highway in Kapaau. For more information, call 884-5808 or visit dunngallerywoodart.com.
