Lester Ah San

Lester W. Ah San, 65, of Honokaa died Aug. 26, 2014, at the Straub Clinic and Hospital on Oahu. He was born in Honokaa.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Sept. 20 at Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. A graveside committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 20 at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sister, Sharon Rogers of Moline, Ill; numerous cousins; one niece; one nephew.

Rosalia Calica

Rosalia “Rose” “Soling” Calica, 89, of Keaau died Sept. 8, 2014, at home. Born Dec. 21, 1924, in Hawi, she was a homemaker and member of the Women’s Auxiliary, American Legion, Keaau Holy Rosary Catholic Church and numerous bowling clubs.

Friends may callat 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel fora 6 p.m. wake service. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Joe Calica of Keaau; sons, Ron (Janet) Gapol of Hilo, Melvin (Theresa) Gapol and Stanley Gapol, both of Keaau; daughters, Rachel (Herbert) Yamashita and Darolyn Tanigawa, both of Keaau, Nancy (Max) Batangan of Chula Vista, Calif.; sister, Lauriana (Pablo) Bibilone of Mountain View; brothers, Pedro (Lottie) Haspe of Hilo, Hilario (Allan Keto) Ramiscal of Hawaiian Paradise Park; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

William Extencion

William “Wild Wild Willy” Extencion, 82, of Honaunau, died Sept. 8, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 14, 1932, in Keei, Maui, he was a retired union construction worker, coffee farmer and fisherman.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Sept. 20 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau for an 11 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sons, Donny Estencion and Steven (Mira-sol) Pascual, both of Kailua-Kona, Jordan Estencion of South Dakota; daughters, Beverly Extencion of Gillette, Wyo., Desiree Pagay of Wyoming; hanai daughter, Shawndell (Robert) Salas of Gillette, Wyo.; stepsons, Alfonso (Anita) Belanio of Hilo, Jeff (Judy) Belanio of Honaunau, Craig Belanio Sr., of Oregon, Roy (Chris) Belanio of Kailua-Kona; stepdaughters, Angelina (Alex) Alcosiba of Las Vegas, Glenda (Denny) Shirley and Estrellita (Frank) Campogan, both of Captain Cook, Gail (John) Reyes and Althea (Rudy) Danao, both of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Ben (Sue) Estencion of Oahu, Joseph Estencion of Honaunau; sister, Gloria Tagalog of Oahu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ulrich Kimmich

Ulrich “Uli” Kimmich, 48, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 11, 2014, at his residence. Born July 6, 1966, in Schramberg, Germany, he was a media designer, member of the film institute and a missionary with the University of the Nations.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at Living Stones Church on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona for a memorial service. Family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to University of the Nations’ Lokahi Transmedia and Arts Studio.

He is survived by wife, Becky Kimmich of Kailua-Kona; son, Nicolas Kimmich of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Jana Kimmich of Kailua-Kona; parents, Guido and Rita Kimmich of Schramberg, Germany; sisters, Beate (Karl) Missel and Nicole (Silas) Grafe-Heppner, both of Germany.

Derek John Alfredo Sentino, 43, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Aiea, Oahu, died Aug. 19, 2014, at his residence. Born April 29, 1971, in Honolulu, was a warehouseman

Diana Faye Owehulani (Lindsey) Kaaekuahiwi, 65, of Las Vegas, formerly of Waimea, died May 22, 2014, in Las Vegas,. She was born in Hawaii. A

She is survived by sons, Merle (Luseana) Kaaekuahiwi Jr. of Las Vegas, James (Dana) Kaaekuahiwi of Honokaa; daughters, Cheryl Kaaekuahiwi and Amy (Jessica) Kaaekuahiwi, both of Las Vegas; sisters, Delsa (Glenn) Bertelmann and Diedre Bertelmann, both of Waimea; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Abigail Gutcher

Abigail Kailipanio Pahia Gutcher, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 18, 2014. Born Jan. 8, 1924, in Honolulu, she was a retired switchboard operator for Kaneohe Naval Station and Liberty House Department Stores.

Interment services will be in the Kaneohe Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

She is survived by son, Gary (Karen Gutcher of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Sandra Decker of Waimea; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Takeo Uyehara

Takeo Uyehara, 85, of Hilo died Aug. 31, 2014, at a care home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired meat department manager for the former Food Fair Supermarket and member of the 1 1/2 miles Kaumana Kumiai, Hui Okinawa and the Korean Vets Group.

Services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

He is survived by daughter, Lorna (Bryson) Kuwahara, of Hilo; brothers, Yasunobu (Jane) Uyehara and Yukio (Betty) Uyehara, both of Honolulu; sisters, Jean Yafuso and Akiko Higa, both of Honolulu, Shizue Yafuso and Sadako (Seiko) Kaneshiro, both of Hilo; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
