Hawaii County Code 24-4(a) specifically prohibits skateboarding on city streets and sidewalks.

On behalf of each of the 176 children and youth who received a new backpack filled with school supplies to begin their school year, the Friends of the Children of West Hawaii would like to express its sincere appreciation to all those who helped make it possible.
Without the generous donations of both school supplies and cash from West Hawaii businesses, residents, visitors, volunteers and grant funds, the Supply Our Students drive would not have been possible. The economic value of the project was close to $8,000 — with just over $3,000 in supplies and monetary donations contributed by our generous residents and visitors.
The recipients of a backpack and supplies all face enormous challenges in their young lives as a result of abuse, neglect or as a witness to domestic violence. In addition, many of these children and youth reside in homes where resources are limited, and the cost of providing the required school supplies is prohibitive.
Thanks to the first Supply Our Students project, each student started his school year with the ability to focus on his education without the stress of not having the required school supplies. Even more important, is the students’ knowledge that there truly are people in the community who care about their well-being and future.
