Fourth- and fifth-graders at Hawaii Preparatory Academy will present “Alice’s Adventures with Idioms” at 1:45 p.m. Oct. 3. The musical performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Gates Performing Arts Center on the school’s upper campus in Waimea.

“Alice’s Adventures with Idioms” is presented in conjunction with the school’s language arts program. HPA’s lower school music teacher Georgia Polakova is directing the program.

When Alice follows her cat and dog down the rabbit hole, she arrives in the Land of Idioms. All the familiar Wonderland characters — the White Rabbits, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the Mad Hatter, March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, the Talking Flowers and the King and Queen of Hearts — are there to share their kooky wisdom as they help Alice and her pets navigate the mysterious world of the English language.

This is the first in a series of musical productions by HPA’s lower school students. The second- and third-grade classes will present the next performance at Dec. 5.
