Event will raise funds for Yurt Project

The second HarvesTea will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Four Seasons Resort Grand Ballroom.

The event will raise funds for Habitat for Humanity’s Yurt Project. Guest speaker is gubernatorial candidate Duke Aiona, who will share his vision for affordable housing throughout Hawaii. In addition, Jen McGeehan will share her story of renting a yurt in Paauilo.

HarvesTea invitations are available at Habitat For Humanity West Hawaii and from registration coordinator Darlene Pullen at 220-7584 or pullendarlene@gmail.com. Tickets are $49 per person. Wednesday, the ticket price increases to $74, with a $100 price at the door. All net proceeds will be donated to The Yurt Project.

Amateur Radio enthusiasts meet

The Kona Amateur Radio Society will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the south end of Wawaloli Beach Park at Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority.

All members, friends, and those interested in HAM radio are invited. A potluck picnic will take place during the meeting, food theme is Mediterranean. The group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month.

Class offers Parkinson’s support

Individuals with Parkinson’s and other neurological challenges are invited to a class led by Madeline Sofranac from Mana Physical Therapy in Waimea.

The event will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at Tutu’s House in Waimea. It is an opportunity to engage both mind and body in exercises adapted to various ability levels. Attendees should dress comfortably to get the whole body involved. A 30-minute support group discussion will also be held.

AARP driving class offered in Kona

Kona Palisades Association is sponsoring an AARP Smart Driver class at 1 p.m. Monday at the Palisades Recreation Center on lower Ka­imi­nani Drive.

The class covers subjects that may affect drivers as they age such as eye sight, reflexes and safety rules. Participants may receive a discount on their insurance.
