Auditions to be held for ‘Bell, Book and Candle’

Aloha Performing Arts Company will hold auditions for volunteer actors for its December comedy, “Bell, Book and Candle” by John van Druten. Guest director Dick Hershberger will hold auditions at 5 p.m. Oct. 18 and 19 at the APAC Loft in Kainaliu. The Loft is located across the street and a half block south of Aloha Theatre in the second story of the building housing King’s Daughters Thrift Shop. The entrance is above and behind Kiernan’s Music Shop.

Roles available are: Gillian Holroyd, a witch whose apartment is the setting for the play; Shepherd Henderson, a publisher and Gillian’s upstairs neighbor; Miss Holroyd, Gillian’s somewhat befuddled aunt, also a witch; Nicky Holroyd, Gillian’s brother, a mischievous warlock; Sidney Redlitch, an author whose focus is to expose witchcraft; and Pyewacket, a cat and Gillian’s “familiar.”

“Bell , Book and Candle” will play Dec. 5 through 21 at the Aloha Theatre. No experience is required and newcomers are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals will begin as soon as casting is completed. Scripts are available for onsite perusal or checkout in exchange for a deposit by arrangement with operations director Suzanne Murdock.
