LIHUE, Kauai — Emergency authorities in Kauai say three people were carried to safety after suffering weekend injuries.

The Garden Island reports a 57-year-old man from Soquel, California, was injured Friday night on Kalalau Trail.

The man and his family spent the night in Kalalau Valley. The man was flown by rescue helicopter Saturday morning to Princeville Airport, where he declined additional assistance.

A rescue helicopter later Saturday morning picked up a 51-year-old San Diego woman injured as she slid down a 10-foot embankment into a stream.

She was flown to a parking lot and transported to Wilcox Hospital.

On Saturday afternoon, a 51-year-old woman from Tempe, Arizona, injured her left ankle while bicycling along Kuilau Trail.

Kapaa firefighters used a litter with a wheel to carry the woman off the trail.
