Angel Sales

Angel “Mando” S. Sales, 89, of Pepeekeo, died Oct. 2, 2014, at home. Born Oct. 1, 1925, in the Philippines, he was a retired factory worker for the former Hilo Coast Processing Sugar Co. and member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Family may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial at Alae Cemetery (Section I) at 11:30 a.m. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Elisa Sales, of Pepeekeo; sons, Perfecto (Rosie) Sales and Patrick Sales, of Keaau, George (Desiree) Sales and Victor (Lorna) Sales, of Bakersfield, Calif., Tomas (Elizabeth) Sales, of Hilo; daughters, Luzviminda (Calvin) Shimizu, of Pepeekeo, Leonila Conanan, of Hilo, and Gemma (Noel) Escobedo, of Kula, Maui; step-children, Edward (Jeny) Deza and Benjie (Ali) Deza, of Philippines, Evelyn (Thom) Guin, of Las Vegas, and Alfred (Kerimae) Deza, of San Jose, Calif.; brother, Santiago (Perlita) Sales, of Philippines; sister, Anastacia (Francisco) Vidad, of Philippines; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Debra Miguel

Debra Anne Miguel, 59, of Honokaa, died on Sept. 24, 2014, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born Nov. 4, 1954, in Honokaa, she was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Oct. 17 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Victor Miguel, of Honokaa; father, Edwin Reucia, of Honokaa; brother, Tracy Reucia, of Waikoloa; grandson, Medel Santiago Jr., of Kahului, Maui; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edwin James

Edwin “Ed” Rowland James, 68, of Kurtistown, died on Sept. 17, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 8, 1945, in Berkeley, Calif., he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Vietnam, technical director, lighting designer, production manager and co-owner of MDI Productions, member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 665, the Directors Guild of America, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 18 at the James’ residence in Kurtistown. Pot luck to follow. Contact Suzi Bond at 937-4080 for more information.

Pamela DePeralta

Pamela DePeralta, 55, of Naalehu, died Sept. 8, 2014, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a husking supervisor for Mac Farms of Hawaii Inc.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at Waiohinu Park in Ka’u. Casual attire.

She is survived by sisters, Bernice (William) Albiar and Sally (Manuel) DeRego, both of Honokaa, Evelyn DePeralta and Loretta DePeralta, both of Naalehu, and Cynthia (David) Barthel, of Bakersfield, Calif.; brothers, Victor (Virginia) DePeralta, of Hilo, Edward (Priscilla) DePeralta, of Keaau, Melvin (Tessie) DePeralta, of Kailua-Kona, Eric DePeralta, of Naalehu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ana Failano

Ana “Aning” Edurise Failano, 95, of Honokaa, died Sept. 18, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born July 19, 1919, in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a housewife, worked for the Hirayama Vegetable Farm in Waimea and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and the Rosary Prayer Group of Honokaa.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Oct. 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son Gregorio Failano, of Keaau; sisters, Mira Calulot and Pascuala Onnagan, both of the Philippines; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Samson Cazimero Sr.

Samson Cazimero Sr., 80, of Kapaau, died Sept. 20, 2014, at home. Born March 27, 1934, in Kohala, he was a golf course maintenace worker for Mauna Lani Beach Resort and worked at the Lapakahi State Park in Kohala and Kohala Sugar Co.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. on Oct. 18 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi for a 10 a.m. memorial Mass. Casual attire; urn burial to follow at the Hawi County Cemetery.

He is survived by sons, Buzzy (Kat) Cazimero, of Pahoa, Samson Cazimero Jr. and Randy (Ernestine) Cazimero, of Kapaau, Kahana (Donelle) Cazimero, of Waikoloa; daughters, Theresa (Richard) Bello and Tweetie (Steven) Viernes, of Kapaau; brothers, Joseph Cazimero, of Kapaau, and Benjamin Cazimero, of Oahu; sisters, Clara (Ben) Sales and Catherine Murai, of Kapaau, Shandry (Eddie) Kaawaloa, of Kona; 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank Thompson

Frank Mailani Thompson, 87, of Kainaliu, died Aug. 22, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 9, 1927 in Honaunau, he was a retired fire captain at the Captain Cook fire station.

Private services were held Oct. 4.

He is survived by daughters, Valerie Corcoran of Kainaliu, Iris (Kevin Sameshima) Thompson of Waimea, Lori (John) Weeks, of Keauhou, Daphne (James) Washburn, of Kainaliu; son, Lorrin Thompson, of Kainaliu; sisters, Blanche Bates of San Diego, Shirley Jones of El Toro, Calif.; Dora Thompson of Honolulu; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert Rainie

Robert Edward Rainie, 92, of Keaau died Sept. 28, 2014, at his residence. Born in Fresno, Calif., he worked for Lockheed Martin and the National Security Agency, was a tae kwon do master, a member of the Board of Directors of the Han Moo Kwan Association and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.

Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the U.S. Navy Beach Jumpers Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

He is survived by wife, Anna Rainie, of Keaau; daughters, Jo (George) Rodgers, of Saratoga, Calif., Christine (Thomas) Balch, of Petaluma, Calif.; son, Brian (Kelly) Rainie, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
