David Renken

David A. Renken, 75, of Pahoa died Oct. 2, 2014, at home. Born in St. Louis, he was a retired director of fixed operations with Toyota of Santa Barbara and other California Toyota dealerships, an Army veteran, a sommelier for the Wine Wrangler in Paso Robles, Calif., and member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 25 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Maralyn Renken of Pahoa; daughters, Shawn (Perry) Paulazzo of Santa Fe, N.M., Deborah (Gary) Erbstoesser of Phoenix, Jeannette (Rick) Graham of Santa Paula, Calif.; sons, Richard (Cheri) Murray of Phoenix, Patrick (Rhonda) Murray of Salem, Ore., Louis Jolliff of Reno, Nev.; brother, Karll Renken of Colorado; 15 grandchildren; a niece; two nephews.

Fusae Yamamoto

Fusae Yamamoto, 95, of Hilo died Sept. 23, 2014, at home. Born in Pahoa. she was a printing assistant with the former Acme Printery and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Private family services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.

She is survived by sister, Sueko Fukuda of Hilo; brother, Ichiro (Ruth) Hashimoto of Honolulu; nieces and nephews.

Cynthia Santana

Cynthia “Cindy” Emmaline Santana, 75, of Kahuku, Ka‘u, died Sept. 16, 2014, at her residence. Born Nov. 18, 1938, in Honolulu, she was a custodial supervisor for the state Department of Education.

She is survived by daughter, Geri (Jean Keka) Santana of Kahuku, Ka‘u; brothers, Darryl Andrade Sr. of Hilo, Ronsten Andrade Sr. of Keaau; one granchild; an aunt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Atanacio Acojido

Atanacio “Jack” Ancheta Acojido, 89, of Naalehu died Oct. 15, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born May 2, 1925, in the Philippines, he was a retired factory maintenance worker for the former Ka‘u Sugar Plantation Co. and member of the Naalehu, Pensioners Club.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Julita Acojido of Naalehu; daughters, Zaclyn (Jared) Hook of Kailua-Kona, Colbey (Ferdinand) Babas-Acojido of Hilo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kiyoshi Oshiro

Kiyoshi Oshiro, 89, of Kukuihaele died Oct. 10, 2014, at Hale Hoola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born Nov. 22, 1924, in Papaikou, he was retired from the Hawaii County Highway Maintenance Division, a World War II Army veteran and member of Honokaa Hui Uruma Club.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Mildred Oshiro of Kukuihaele; sons, Clayton (Wilma) Oshiro of Honokaa, Alvin Oshiro and Mason (Jackie Kauka) Oshiro, both of Kukuihaele; daughter, Roxanne Winkler, of Hilo; stepson, James Tanaka of Hilo; brother, Akira Oshiro of Papaikou; sisters, Sandra Kawata of Honolulu, Akiko (Hisao) Hamanaka of Monterey, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Etsuko Yamaguchi

Etsuko Yamaguchi, 86, of Captain Cook died Aug. 30, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 12, 1928, in Kealakekua, she was a retired pantry worker for Kona Village Resort and member of Daifukuji Soto Mission and Wallace Kumiai.

Private services were held.

She is survived by son, Myles (Joleen) Yamaguchi of Captain Cook; daughters, Karen Hall, Felecia Yamaguchi and Gwen (Guy) Koyanagi, all of Captain Cook, Dayle (James) Onishi of Oahu; sister, Natsue Minami and Sadame Miyazu, both of Oahu; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen Pakani

Helen Kehaulani Pakani, 58, of Hilo died Oct. 12, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 18, 1955 in Hilo, she was a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Hilo.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Oct. 25 at Waiuli for a celebration of life luncheon. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.

She is survived by husband, William Pakani Jr. of Hilo; daughters, Christine (Aaron Jon) Pakani and Tonie Pakanim both of Hilo, Jamie (Ralph) Tells of Mililani, Oahu; sons, Michael (Gaylynne) Pakani and Aaron Pakani, both of Hilo; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
