Robert Hokama

Robert “Bob” Nobuo Hokama, 85, of Hilo died Oct. 15, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired teacher at Hilo Intermediate School, member of Hilo Hooganji Mission and P &R Bowling League and a Korean War Marine Corps veteran.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Eiko Hokama of Hilo; sons, Terence Hokama of Honolulu, Stacy (Michin) Hokama of Korea; daughter, Cindy Hokama of Seattle; brothers, Takeo Hokama of California, David (Tim) Hokama of Hilo; sister, Karen Nakamura of Honolulu; five granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.

Eloise McIntosh

Eloise Anne Zerbe McIntosh, 92, of Kealakekua died Oct. 13, 2014, at her residence. Born June 23, 1922, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker, hula dancer, a retired secretary and member of Daughters of Hawaii, St. John’s Catholic Church Kealakekua and Sacred Heart Catholic Church Honolulu.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at Diamond Head Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 2178, Kealakekua, HI 96750.

She is survived by son, Ronald McIntosh Jr. of Kealakekua; daughters, Carol (Bruce) Clifford and Marilyn McIntosh, both of Kealakekua; brother, Henry (Ursie) Zerbe Jr. of Mililani, Oahu; sister, Phyllis Zerbe of Honolulu; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Reuben Akiona

Reuben Steven Akiona, 64, of Napoopoo died Oct. 13, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 4, 1950, in Captain Cook, he was a golf cart attendant for the former Kona Country Club.

Friends may call at 9 a.m., Nov. 1 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sisters, Thelma (John) Akiona of Napoopoo, Tammy (Peter) Pahinui of Arizona; brothers, Sam Akiona Jr. and Harold Akiona, both of Napoopoo; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; numerous cousins.

Betty Budde

Betty June Deuser Budde, 94, of Waikoloa died Oct. 13, 2014, at Beverly Brand’s Care Home in Waikoloa. Born Aug. 15, 1920, in Oakland, Calif., she was a clerk for the government, a World War II pilot with the Women Air Service Patrol and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor.

Scattering of her ashes in California is planned for a later date.

She is survived by sons, James (Madeleine) Budde of Waimea, Alan (Wilda) Budde of Camarillo, Calif., Dale (Ingrid) Budde of Neubernricht, Germany; sisters, Helen Deuser of San Leandro, Calif., Barbara Jean Hale of Cottonwood, Calif.; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alick Sakal

Alick Sakal, 76, of Hilo died Oct. 16, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Suva, Fiji, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic for Castle &Cooke-Dole and worked at Pacific Laundry, Cascade Tractor Co. and Tropical Products.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Josephine Sakal of Hilo; stepsons, Allan (Karen) LaL of Las Vegas, Daniel (Suzy) LaL of Olympia, Wash., Claudius LaL of Fremont, Calif.; brother, Nand LaL of Fremont, Calif.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Robert Morgan Jr.

Robert Ruliph Morgan Jr., 88, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 19, 2014, at his residence. Born Sept. 15, 1926, in Los Angeles, he was an electrical engineer for EEMCO Co.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Morgan of Kailua-Kona; son, Robert Morgan of San Diego; daughters, Maryann Morgan of Santa Monica, Calif., Debbie (Bryan) Kloes of Colorado; five grandchildren.

Ruth Castle-Burleson

Ruth Mildred Castle-Burleson, 91, of Hilo died Oct. 19, 2014, at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Sterling, Ill., she was a retired bookkeeper and member of Hilo Missionary Church.

Private services will be held in Hilo and California at a later date.

She is survived by daughters, Christine (Rafael) Millet of Magnolia, Texas, Donna (Art) Rico of Hilo; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
