A 55-year-old Kona man was arrested shortly after a robbery at a Kailua-Kona pharmacy on Saturday, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

At 8:35 a.m. Saturday, Kona patrol officers responded to a pharmacy at the corner of Kuakini Highway and Walua Road. They learned a man had entered the pharmacy and threatened to blow it up unless he was given drugs. He fled on foot after being given undisclosed medication.

At 9 a.m., officers located the suspect on the property of a nearby condominium on Walua Road. Phillip W. Hart of Kailua-Kona was arrested after a short pursuit and taken to the Kona police cellblock while Area II Criminal Investigations Section detectives continued the investigation.

At noon Sunday, detectives charged him with second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $5,000. He remained at the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday.
