Hananiah Hawaiiloa “boobie” “Naih” Kawaakoa, 19, of Pahoa died Oct. 21, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born February 6, 1995 in Hilo, he was a fisherman.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Cremation will follow. Family requests casual, aloha attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Precious Kawaakoa; daughter, Alohinani Kawaakoa; hanai brother, Kainalu Kawaakoa; mother, Carolene Kawaakoa; sister, Jaylene Kawaakoa, all of Pahoa; grandparents, Peter and Frances Rodrigues of Mountain View; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Belhinia Navarro

Belhinia “Bel” Ortiz Navarro, 76, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 11, 2014, in Honolulu. Born July 9, 1938, in Kealakekua, she was a retired laundry attendant for Tyke’s Laundromat, a caregiver and a former head cook for Ohana Keiki Day Care.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 7 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. A luncheon will follow. Inturnment will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 8 at West Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery.

She is survived by sons, Michael (Denise) Navarro, Virgil Navarro, Joseph Navarro, all of Kailua-Kona, Patrick Navarro of Kilauea, Christobal (Janine) Navarro Jr. of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Cynthia (Sammy) Pua Sr. of Keopu, Rosemarie Shields of Naples, Fla., Stephanie (Herman) Mahu; brother, Erenio (Evelyn) Ortiz, all of Kailua-Kona; sister, Genevieve Kuakahela of Kalaoa; 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry Haux

Larry “Mike” Michael Haux, 62, of Kealakekua died Oct. 11, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 21, 1952, in Billings, Mont., he was a journeyman carpenter.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Mary-Jayne Haux of Kealakekua; son, Michael Haux of Ft. Benning, Ga.; brother, Steve Haux of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sisters, Sandy (Jim) Entler of Portland, Ore., Cathy (Mike) Carnes of Washougal, Wash.; three grandchildren.

Pamela DePeralta

Pamela DePeralta, 55, of Naalehu died Sept. 8, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a husking supervisor for Mac Farms of Hawaii, Inc.

She is survived by sisters, Bernice (William) Albiar and Sally (Manuel) DeRego, all of Honokaa, Evelyn DePeralta of Naalehu, Cynthia (David) Barthel of Bakersfield, Calif., Loretta DePeralta of Naalehu; brothers, Victor (Virginia) DePeralta of Hilo, Edward (Priscilla) DePeralta of Keaau, Melvin (Tessie) DePeralta of Kailua-Kona, Eric DePeralta of Naalehu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul Ingledew

Paul Arthur Ingledew, 88, of Hilo died Oct. 19, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Phoenix, he was a World War II veteran, a retired captain of the San Diego City Fire Department, a past president of the East Hawaii Kiwanis Club, and a past president of the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors.

Private services were held.

He is survived by daughter, Paula (Jeremy) Holbrook of Hilo; son, Russell (Katherine) Ingledew of La Jolla, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shigeko Takamine

Shigeko Takamine, 84, of Honokaa died Oct. 26, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born March 31, 1930, in Paauhau, she was a retired assistant manager from Ben Franklin in Waimea and member of Hamakua Jodo Mission Kyodan and Fujinkai, Hui Uruma and Honokaa Pension Club.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 at Hamakua Jodo Mission in Paauhau Mauka for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Yoshinobu Takamine of Honokaa; sons, Ronald Haimoto of Honolulu, Jeffrey (Carla) Takamine of Hilo, Blane (Dale) Takamine of Enumclaw, Wash.; daughter, Nadine (Kenneth) Bondallian of Paauhau; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beryl Cambridge

Beryl Joyce Cambridge, 99, of Waikoloa died Oct. 26, 2014, at her residence. Born June 22, 1915, in Port Limon, Costa Rica, she was a homemaker and member of Ascencion Catholic Church in Puako.

She is survived by daughter, Yvonne Cambridge of Waikoloa; son, Robert (Terry) Cambridge of Los Angeles; granddaughters, Leslie (William) Bee of Waikoloa, Lisa (Claude) Mitchell of Ridgefield, Conn., Amanda Cambridge of Los Angeles; two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Willard Rapoza Jr.

Willard “Willy Boy” James Rapoza Jr., 48, of Waimea died Oct. 20, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1966, in Kealakekua, he was a heavy equipment operator, welder and general laborer, rodeo participant, head football coach for the Pop Warner Cowboys in Waimea and member of the Waimea Football Association and New Hope Waimea.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 8 at Puuanahulu Recreational Center, 71-1449 Mamalahoa Highway, Puuanahulu, for a 10 a.m. celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Susumu Umetsu

Susumu “Sus” Umetsu, 81, of Hilo died Oct. 15, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired painting contractor, owner of the former Akahi Painting Corp., member of Hilo Meishoin Mission and an Army veteran.

Private family services were held. Family requests no monetary donations.

He is survived by wife, Yuriko Umetsu of Hilo; daughter, Denise (Norman) Takeya of Honolulu; sister, Sumiko Eguchi of Pearl City, Oahu; two granddaughters.

Don Swangel

Donald Alvin Swangel, 86, of Riverside, Calif., died Oct. 25, 2014, at his home. Born June 4, 1928, in Montezuma, Iowa, he was co-operator of Leilani Bed and Breakfast in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.
