St. James’ Circle Christmas Bazaar to be held

The St. James’ Circle Christmas Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at their church in Waimea. St. James, Waimea Country School and Small World Preschool collaborate for this bazaar which features a Christmas store and boutique selling items from antiques to shawls, baked goods and preserves sold in the Spencer Building and a plant/produce sale on the front lawn. Small World Preschool will be offering face painting, keiki games, a rummage sale and hawaiian plates outside their school in the back of the Circle. Waimea Country School will also provide a fresh food option.

Proceeds from the bazaar go to the Food Pantry at Annunciation Church, the Kokua Ministry of New Hope Church and the St. James outreach ministries. Parking and entrance to the bazaar is free. For more information, call Jasmine Bostock at 384-3091 or at jb3909a@student.american.edu.

Kiholo Fishpond work party scheduled

The public is invited to join The Nature Conservancy for a volunteer work day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at Kiholo Fishpond to revitalize the fishponds by removing invasive vegetation from the pond edge and clearing old debris. These efforts to clean the fishponds make space for native plants to thrive, reduce sediment inputs into the fishpond and improve water quality for fish to grow.

A talk-story will be held after a potluck lunch set for 1 to 2 p.m. with students from the Lawaia class at Hawaii Community College who will share their research on the cultural significance of native fish species inhabiting Kiholo fishpond. Bring a chair for seating. Directions and details will be emailed the day before. The gate will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Drinks, water and rice will be provided. Bring a hat, sunscreen, bathing suit, hiking boots, water shoes, gloves, protective clothing, water bottle and hand tools – we also have plenty to share.

RSVP to rmost@tnc.org by Nov. 13.
