Work furlough walkaway Eric Fernando was recently returned to Oahu Community Correctional Center by the Honolulu Police Department.

Fernando, who was serving time for burglary, failed to return back to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center after work. Fernando left Nov. 5 and was supposed to return at 3:30 a.m. Nov. 6. He was returned to OCCC Nov. 11 by Honolulu Police, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

His next parole hearing was scheduled for December. Escape 2 will be added to his charges.

Laumaka is a minimum security work furlough center for community custody inmates. It is located a block away from OCCC. Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
