Looking up the numbers interesting

I really enjoyed Dave Chrisman’s Nov. 13 letter. It was both entertaining and educational. It inspired me to go online and look up more on the subject of presidents. I learned so much.

For one thing, according to Roper Center Public Opinion Archives, the lowest recorded approval rating for George W. Bush was a fantastic 19 percent, which beats out that wonderful Republican president Richard Nixon’s stellar 23 percent. Barack Obama’s lowest rate was a measly 39 percent — really pitiful. Gallup makes it an even worse 40 percent.

And the stock market during George H.W. Bush was a sparkling 2,500 and during George W. Bush, it skyrocketed to a sizzling 12,000. Under the current Democrats, the highest has been only a paltry 17,700.

And as for the unemployment rate, the only thing worse than the nation’s 5.6 percent is Hawaii’s 4.6 percent.

Student’s note makes veteran’s day

This past week I had an appointment at the local VA CBOC (clinic.) I was so pleased to receive a hand-drawn American flag and handwritten note thanking me for my military service. Some children and their thoughtful teacher at Kealakehe Elementary School prepared these heartfelt treasures for the many veterans who visit the clinic.

Other than saying thank you to Kaimana who prepared my new treasure, I can say my heart surely felt their thanks.
