Kona Bridge Club seeks new members of all skill levels

The Kona Bridge Club is recruiting new members and welcomes all skill levels. Weekly games are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday and special events on weekends at Makua Lani Christian Academy, 74-4966 Kealakaa St. Classes for beginning and intermediate players are also available.

All bridge players and visitors are welcome regardless of club membership. Players are encouraged to bring a partner but assistance is provided in finding one if needed. The fee to play is $5 per person. For more information, visit konabridge.org.

Chamber of Commerce announces online auction

The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce is hosting its sixth annual Bid for Hawaii online auction Friday through Dec. 8. The auction can be found at biddingforgood.com/bidforHawaii.

Available items include hotel stays, activities and locally made goods. The auction is designed to promote Hawaii products and services as well as support the programs and services of the chamber. Master Gardener classes planned

Master Gardeners training classes begin Feb. 3 and are projected to run through April 28. To apply for the program, fill out an application form and submit it to Ty McDonald with $130 payment by Friday. Complete the application form at goo.gl/forms/0dn6umuxuo.

Kailua Kalikimaka events bring holiday cheer to Kailua Village

The Kailua Village Business Improvement District is bringing Hawaiian-style holiday cheer to Kailua Village with several free Kailua Kalikimaka events.

A tree lighting is scheduled at 5:45 p.m. Friday at Emma’s Square across from Hulihee Palace.

Keiki Kalikimaka will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 at Kona Commons. Attendees may come early to take photos with Santa. A dinner and showing of the movie “Happy Feet” are also planned.

A boat parade will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 in conjunction with the Kona Community Christmas Parade on Alii Drive.

Holunape will perform a free concert at 5 p.m. Dec. 14 under the monkelpod tree at Emma’s Square during the Kokua Kailua village stroll, which is held from 1 to 6 p.m.

Art sale in Volcano will support Kona Hospital Auxiliary

The Kona Hospital Auxiliary, in conjunction with Holiday House, will participate in the annual “Christmas at the Volcano” which takes place Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Dec. 6 and 7 at 99-1949 Pukeawe Circle.
