Residents of lower Puna who may be affected by the lava flow are being asked to complete a Community Needs Survey.

The survey is a joint effort of the Hawaii Island United Way, Hawaii County Civil Defense and researchers Mark Kimura and Kathryn Bisoe from the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences. It covers a variety of topics and concerns and will help all agencies and organizations responding to the lava flow better direct resources to assist the community.

United Way encourages all residents, even those living in temporary shelters to participate in the online survey. Residents are not required to provide their name.

Lower Puna Residents can access the survey by clicking here. At the website, survey-takers can also download a print version and drop it off at the Pahoa Community Center.
