Young Brothers accepting applications for community grant funds
Young Brothers is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit community organizations in Hawaii County for its Community Gift Giving Program. The program will award grants of up to $1,000 per organization.
Community organizations that are IRS-approved 501(c)(3)s with a purpose related to health, education, civic and community service, youth activities, cultural enrichment, environment or special community projects can apply. The deadline for applications is Friday, Dec. 12.
The Hawaii County Community Advisory Board members are Chery Garvey (Chairperson), Dave Young, Derek Kurisu and Fanny Collins Au Hoy.
Application forms and information are available youngbrothershawaii.com under “Community Gift Giving.” It’s preferred that applications be submitted via email to cab@htbyb.com. Kealakehe Project Grad meeting scheduled
The next Project Grad 2015 meeting will be held at 6 p.m.Tuesday in the Kealakehe High School library workroom. Community members are encouraged to join a committee to help plan and organize this event; this is not exclusive to parents of seniors. Kona Brain Injury Support group meets
The Kona Brain Injury Support group is meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 10 at Hawaiian Rehab Services, located just mauka of the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union on Hualalai Street.
Dr. Ann Mary Palozzi, a neuropsychologist, will be speaking on the “Nuts and Bolts of a Neuropsychological Evaluation.” Palozzi will explain what neuropsychological testing is, when it is indicated and what can be expected to learn from the test results.

Soil and water conservation meeting set
The Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service office at 67-1185 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 148 in Waimea. If accommodation or auxiliary aid is needed, call 885-6602, ext. 100.
Kailua-Kona Seniors hold Christmas celebration
The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Hale Halawai where Christmas will be celebrated with a luncheon catered by Big Island Grill.
