Gail Zavatsky

Gail Sylvia Kekulu Zavatsky, 65, of Nanawale died Nov. 27, 2014. She was born in Hilo.

Memorial services will be held at her home, 14-3406 Leisure Lane in Nanawale, from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 13.

She is survived by husband, Samuel W. Kahikina of Pahoa; daughter Tawnya Lee Mahealani (Pualani) Domingo of Honolulu; sisters, Priscilla (Bryan) Kobayashi of Nanawale and Jeanine (Anthony M.) Medeiros of Hawaiian Paradise Park; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two nieces.

Sylvia Boldwyn

Sylvia Patricia Boldwyn, 75, of South Jordan, Utah died Nov. 13, 2014, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. Born Feb. 18, 1939, in Ookala, she was an administrator for Northrop Grumman Corp.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 13 at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Papaaloa for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests attendees to wear purple. Flowers are welcomed. Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Ookala.

She is survived by husband, Kenneth Boldwyn of South Jordan, Utah; sisters, Isabella Cabote of Ookala, Jane Yanos of Kapolei, Oahu and Doris (Francis) Ah Loy of Waipahu, Oahu; stepmother, Nilda (Ganong) Caboter of Hilo; stepbrother, Neil Cabote of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Roseline Ching

Roseline Lilinoekilipuhiinalani Losalio Ching, 61, of Ocean View died Oct. 31, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 17, 1952, in Kealakekua, she was a former groundskeeper for Department of Transportation at Kona International Airport and a former member of the King Kamehameha Day Parade planning committee in Kona.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 at Halau Maluhia in Keei for a service. For more information or directions, call Cheryl Taupu at 989-8608. Family requests casual attire be worn. Lei are welcome.

She is survived by son, Len (Andi Pawasarat-Losalio) Losalio of Ocean View; mother, Roseline Grace of Ka’u; brother, Charles Grace Jr. of South Kona; sisters, Cheryl Taupu (Tava Teikivaeohu) of Keei, Melamie Grace of Red Bluff, Calif.; companion, Anthony Kawaauhau of Ocean View; three grandchildren; husband, Arthur Ching of Waimea; hanai sons, Scott (Amanda) Gaylord of Chico, Calif., Rio Taupu of Keei, Todd Gaylord of Walnut Creek, Calif.; hanai daughter, Helene Taupu of Keei; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frances Deniz

Frances Kamela Deniz, 84, of Honaunau died Dec. 5, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 16, 1930, in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker, worked as a sorter and candy maker for Kamigaki Macadamia Nut Factory and was a member of Kahikolu Congregational Church.

Friends may call at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Kahikolu Congregational Church in Napoopoo for a 3 p.m. service. Private interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Henry (Jeanne) Deniz Jr., Edward (Celeste) Deniz, Michael (Debra) Deniz, Stephen (Cindy) Deniz, Clement (Claudia) Deniz, and Harold (Renee) Deniz, all of Honaunau, Francis (Lisa) Deniz of Haleiwa, Oahu; daughters, Lily Anne (Stratton) Souza of Kailua-Kona, and Emma (Keven) Yamaguchi of Honaunau; brothers, Edward Chang of Lanai City, Lanai, Clement Chang Sr., of Hilo; sister, Winne (David) Monfort of Milolii; 28 grandchildren; one hanai grandchild; eight great-grandchildren; four hanai great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alvin Jardine Sr.

Alvin Francis Jardine Sr., 87, of Kurtistown died Nov. 6, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Naalehu, he was a retired industrial painter and a former Golden Gloves two-time champion. He was also a member of the Painters Local Union 1791, Pig Hunters of Hawaii, and the CYO Boxing Club.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale for a 2 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Rebecca Jardine of Kurtistown; sons, Alexander Jardine of Kailua-Kona, Renfred (Earllyn) Jardine, Tyson (Stacey) Jardine, both of Kurtistown; daughters, Jermayne (Reynold) Crivello of Hilo, Loralei (John) Campbell, Parona (Roscoe) Cobb-Adams, Shezale (Robert) Kanahele, all of Kurtistown; brother, Clarence (Frances) Jardine of Kaneohe, Oahu; sisters, Agnes Freitas, Edna Stoliker, both of Honolulu, Linda Keliikipi of Ewa Beach, Oahu; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
