HONOLULU — A 30-year-old Oahu man suspected of attacking a woman in a home he was burglarizing has been charged with attempted murder.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports Chauncey Ingraham is also charged with burglary and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Prosecutors say Ingraham on Sunday broke into the home of a 23-year-old woman in Kailua and was still in the home when she returned.

Prosecutors say Ingraham attacked the woman with a knife.

The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition with stab wounds.

Police say Ingraham fled in a stolen car and was caught an hour later at a Waimanalo strip mall.

He’s being held on $200,000 bail.
