James Reynolds Sr.

James “Jimmy” Elbert Reynolds Sr., 78, of Honokaa died Dec. 13, 2014, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Honolulu. Born April 6, 1936, in Hamakua, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and a master diesel mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Plantation Co. He was also the owner of his own diesel mechanic shop in Honokaa and a member of the Honokaa Senior Citizens.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 27 at the Kawaihae Boat Ramp for a service and scattering of ashes. Family requests casual attire be worn. Loose flowers are welcome. A potluck will follow.

He is survived by wife, Priscilla Reynolds of Honokaa; daughter, Julie Truchan of Central Point, Ore.; son, James Reynolds Jr. of Honokaa; sister, Jeanette Reynolds Santos of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cheryl Torrison

Cheryl Takeko Torrison, 58, of Kurtistown died Dec. 4, 2014, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Kohala, she was a senior account clerk for the County of Hawaii Planning Department and a member of Hawi Jodo Mission and Kiwanis club of East Hawaii.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Ed Torrison of Kurtistown; sons, Edward Torrison III of Hilo, Chris Torrison of Hilo; hanai daughter, Giulia Villa of Milan, Italy; mother, Jean Matsuda of North Kohala; brothers, Scot (Lyn) Matsuda of Pearl City, Oahu, Ted (Kathy) Matsuda of North Kohala, Nat (Jasmine) Matsuda of Arizona, Kell (Jocelin) Matsuda of North Kohala; sister, Jan (Carl) Beavers of Pahoa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mitsuo Une

Mitsuo Une, 80, of Ninole died Dec. 14, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born Oct. 1, 1934, in Ninole, he was a retired mechanic for the former Schuman Carriage Company in Honolulu and a member of Honohina Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Dec. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by brothers, Satoru (Kathryn) Une of Pepeekeo, Reginald Une of Hilo, Lawrence Une of Los Angeles; sister, Leatrice (Wallace) Uchida, of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Heidenfeldt

Robert E. Heidenfeldt, 88, of Hilo died Dec. 11, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Tonawanda, N.Y., he was a retired investigator for the State of Hawaii Child Support Enforcement Agency. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Dec. 29 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 30 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for a graveside committal. The family requests aloha attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Miguela Heidenfeldt of Hilo; sons, Bruce Heidenfeldt of Hilo, Gary (Moani) Heidenfeldt of Kaneohe, Oahu, Brian (Deborah) Heidenfeldt of Hilo; daughters, Karen (Danielle Scudder) Heidenfeldt of Laupahoehoe, Debra (Kawehi) Ryder of Pahala, Gail Gali of Pahala; sisters, Dora Buchner of Denver, Lois Lovis of Emmaus, Pa.; half-sisters, Marie (Gay) Garner of Mobile, Ala., Elaine (Nicolas) Woloszyn of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Gale (Gerry) Synkowski of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian Sato

Lillian Eiko Sato, 86, of Hilo died Dec. 16, 2014, at a care home in Hilo. Born Sept. 9, 1928, in Hilo, she was a retired Waiakea Elementary School teacher and member of Hilo Meishoin Kyodan and Fujinkai and Akaka Falls Lions Club.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Dec. 29 at Hilo Meishoin, 97 Olona St., for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no monetary gifts or flowers. Donations may be made to Hospice of Hilo, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

She is survived by sons, Eric Sato, Russell (Janet) Sato; daughter, Lori (Ken) Kawano; brothers, Kenneth Kuwahara, Masamitsu Okinaka, Bob (Pauline) Okinaka, Stanley (Carol Tokuda) Okinaka, Don (Jane) Okinaka, Yoshi (Kathy) Okinaka; sister, Jane Doi; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mavis Cook

Mavis Cowan Cook, 92, of Waimea died Dec. 17, 2014, at her home. Born June 29, 1922, in Ewa, Oahu, she was a homemaker and community volunteer.

Private services were held.

She is survived by sons, Frank Cook III and Soupy Campbell, both of Waimea, Steven (Keri) Campbell of Holualoa; daughters, Faye Daniel of Kona and Piilani Isaia of Oahu; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
