Quigong teacher offers free healing circles
Zou Ping, qigong master from China, is offering workshops to teach Zhineng qigong and free healing circles.
The first healing circle will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Tutu’s House in Waimea. Events are also planned from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at West Hawaii Civic Center and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kokolulu Farm and QiGong Center in Hawi.

Elks plan installation ceremony, luncheon
Kona Elks Lodge No. 2616 will install new officers on Sunday at the Lodge in Kailua-Kona.
The ceremony starts at noon. Lunch, consisting of braised pork roast, carrots, red potatoes with gravy, salad and desert, will follow for $12. Reserve a spot by calling 329-2616.

Free event includes Hawaiian language contest
Punana Leo o Kona, a Hawaiian medium education preschool, will hold a family event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Keauhou Shopping Center courtyard.
The event features a Hawaiian language competition and Hawaiian music by Jon and Jamaica Osorio, Kalani Pea, Bulla Kailiwai and Hawane Rios. Food booths, keiki activities and vendors will be included.
Afternoon at Hulihee is Sunday
The Daughters of Hawaii and Calabash Cousins present Afternoon at Hulihee at 4 p.m. Sunday. Held on the grounds of Hulihee Palace, the event remembers the late Prince Kuhio and Queen Kaahumanu.
The event presents the Merrie Monarchs, the Hulihee Palace West Hawaii County Band and Hawaiian performing arts by kumu hula Etua Lopes and his Halau Na Pua Ui O Hawaii.
Attendees should bring a beach mat or chair.
Hilo trap and skeet range closed this weekend
The Hilo trap and skeet range will be closed Saturday and Sunday because of an unexpected staff shortage.
Normal operating hours will resume Wednesday, when the range will be open from noon until 4 p.m.

Dances of universal peace planned
Dances of universal peace will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at New Thought Center in Kealakekua.
Participants will move in the moment while singing sacred phrases, mantras and poetry of many spiritual traditions.

Auntie’s Angels seeks food donations for low income seniors
The nonprofit Auntie’s Angels will hold its monthly Soup Kitchen ‘n Pantry Saturday for low income seniors living at Hualalai Elderly Housing.

Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers meet Monday
The West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at 81-6393 Mamalahoa Highway about a half mile south of Konawaena Elementary School Road.
Gary Kastle from the Master Gardeners will discuss little fire ants in South Kona. Attendees are encouraged to bring fruit for sampling. Nonmembers are welcome.

Volunteers sought for Mauna Kea reforestation project
The Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Project is seeking volunteers to plant mamane, aalii, aweoweo and other species at the Kaohe Restoration Area and Puu Mali Restoration Area at about 6,500 feet elevation on the southwestern slope of Mauna Kea.
The first volunteer opportunity is a Puu Mali camp over from Monday through Thursday. Kaohe day trips are planned on March 21, 23, 24, April 7 and 8. Another camp over is planned April 27 through 30.
Four-wheel drive vehicles are required. Limited carpooling can be provided.
