WAIKOLOA — Keiki splished and splashed, then dipped and dashed around the Hilton Waikoloa Village lagoon at the Lavakids Aquathlon on Saturday afternoon.

More than 100 youth athletes took on the course, which ran flawlessly in its new home at the Hilton. Family, friends and fans lined the course, cheering on the up-and-coming triathletes.

Led by the legendary Lavaboy and Lavagirl, the youngest competitors competed in a dash to the finish line, while the older kids both swam and ran. The 7-10 year-olds completed a 100-meter swim and 1K run, while the older athletes did a 200-meter swim and 2K run.

Winners were recognized, but everyone got a medal and showed it off in the Lavakids parade to wrap up the day.
