The UH-Hilo softball team’s run at the Tournament of Champions hit a roadblock when Central Washington started swinging its bats.

The Vulcans (20-14) rolled through their first four games, but finished pool play at 4-1 on Saturday in Turlock, Calif., after the Wildcats won in a rout.

Central Washington drilled UH-Hilo 13-1, pummeling losing pitcher Danielle Wilson (6-7) for eight runs and 10 hits in just two innings.

Lindsey Kamphuis silenced the Vuls with a two-hitter in the five-inning TKO win.

In a 6-5 win over Northwest Nazarene, Brittany Huff batted 4 for 4 with two RBI and Colleen Aubrey went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Vanessa Salinas (13-7) pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief for the win, after replacing Wilson, who got shelled for three runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings.

In an 11-0 TKO win over Western Oregon, Amanda Lara cranked a grand slam and Salinas clubbed a three-run homer.

Salinas batted 2 for 2 with three RBIs, Melanie Morelos 2 for 3 with two RBIs while Aubrey added two hits.

Salinas threw a five-hitter in the five-inning TKO win.

UH-Hilo baseball

The Vuls dropped a doubleheader to Point Loma, 5-3 and 4-3, on Saturday in San Diego, extending their losing streak to three straight, and 13 of their last 14.

In the 5-3 loss, Jordan Kumasaka pitched 4 1/3 scoreless inning in relief, and Byron Freitas batted 2 for 3.

That was it as far as UH-Hilo’s highlights.

Eric Vegas gave up three runs on five hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings in the loss.

In the 4-3 loss, David Moody pitched two scoreless innings in relief, and Korin Medeiros, Sam Kim and Aalona Amimoto had two hits each.

Jarin Kadooka recorded one out and gave up a run and two hits in the loss for the Vuls (6-19, 4-19 PacWest).
