HANALEI — Officials say a beach has been closed on Hawaii’s Kauai Island after shark was spotted in the area.

No injuries were reported after the approximately 15-foot shark was seen in a swimming area around the Hanalei Pavilion Thursday afternoon.

Warning and no-swimming signs have been posted on the beach. Officials are advising people to stay out of the water until further notice.

Officials say the beach likely will be reopened Friday morning if it is deemed safe to go in the water.
