M-3.4 earthquake strikes near Volcano

A magnitude-3.4 earthquake was recorded Wednesday morning near Volcano, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The earthquake, which had a registered depth of 4.3 miles, struck at 9:16 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was centered about 9 miles southeast of Volcano.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue an advisory following the temblor.

As of 12:30 p.m., just three people in East Hawaii reported having felt the temblor.

It was the second temblor with a magnitude of at least 3.0 to strike Wednesday. A magnitude-3.0 earthquake was recorded Wednesday morning near the Kilauea Volcano summit.

The earthquake, which had a registered depth of 0.6 mile, struck at 7:35 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. It was centered 1.3 south-southeast of the Kilauea’s summit and 2.4 miles southwest of Volcano.
