In his defense, Kenoi has brought us together

Prior to Bill Kenoi becoming mayor of Hawaii County in 2008, there was continual talk about dividing the county into two separate counties. People on the west side of the island contributed more in property taxes but felt the east side of the island was receiving far more than their fair share of governmental services, especially road repairs and construction.

I haven’t heard a call to divide Hawaii County in many years. Credit should be given to Mayor Kenoi and his administration for the many improvements they have made during his tenure.

While Kenoi has made some mistakes along the way, overall, I believe he has served us well and I can’t help but continue to like him.

Exchange student hosting rewarding experience

How does one sufficiently thank people who open their homes and lives to a foreign student? The students say it a thousand times to their host families. Can my words of thanks be any greater than the experience itself?

Host families all over Hawaii (and the U.S.) are preparing to bid their students good bye as the school year comes to an end. The memories of all the adventures they shared will remain, pictures on the fridge, reminders of the fun. Little notes on Facebook and Instagram will show the family what their “son” or “daughter” is up to and the house will feel empty. Many families will host again and another foreign student’s dream of learning about America will come true.

There is still time to get your own student for the 2015-16 school year. Contact ccc-exchange.com for more information.
