Kaiser pitchers Seli Aholelei and C. Ching-Lake shut down the Keaau offense in the opening round of the HHSAA state softball tournament on Tuesday. Keaau was held to only one hit in a 9-1 loss at McKinley High School in Honolulu.

Kilohi Kamakea-Wng threw the complete six innings for Keaau. She was hurt by a few timely errors in the field, with only four of the nine runs allowed being earned. She allowed 12 hits and struck out one Kaiser batter.

Kaiser jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off three hits and an error. The second inning was scoreless, but the Honolulu team blew the game open in the third with a five run inning that was aided by four hits and an error

Keaau scored its lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Erleen Oguma walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. She stole third and scored when Macey Mokuhalii reached on an error by the pitcher.

Kaiser scored its final run in the fourth inning.

Keaau shortstop Rylann Hacoba picked up the lone hit. She went 1-for-3. Oguma, the third baseman, managed to reach base twice on a pair of walks.

The Kaiser offense spread its hits around. Right fielder Kayla Russell led the team by going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and one run scored. She hit a 3-run homer in the fourth inning.

Aholelei also had two hits and a solo home run. She scored twice and knocked in one. Second baseman Elyse Tsutsui, third baseman Rainelle Matsuoka and Ching-Lake also had a multiple hit game.
