Big Island Running Company to close out National Running Day

Atlanta Track Club and Big Island Running Company are pairing up to make sure National Running Day starts and finishes strong with organized group runs. Atlanta Track Club will host the first run of National Running Day with a midnight (Eastern Time) run, while Big Island Running Company will hold a run at 11:30 p.m. on June 3.

“We are excited to team up with Atlanta Track Club to bookend National Running Day,” said Melissa Braswell, owner of Big Island Running Company. “As the last time zone in the U.S., we look forward to hosting the last run on that day. The Big Island is a very active community and we look forward to celebrating running and our unique location. Hopefully these fun special events will encourage some new runners to hit the roads.”

Big Island Running Company will provide refreshments and give away prizes for the participants at their respective late-night runs. Big Island Running Company’s special run will begin at 11:30 p.m. in Kona at the Alii Drive store and weave through the Kailua Village before returning to the store at midnight.

All group runs are free and open to the public. Since 2009, running organizations across the United States have encouraged runners to gather on the first Wednesday in June to celebrate their passion with National Running Day.
