Charles Jess Jr.

Charles Casimer Jess Jr., 69, of Papaaloa died May 27, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Arlington, Mass., he was a retired union carpenter, member of the Bahai Faith, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, recipient of three Purple Hearts and a Vietnam Marine Corps veteran.

A graveside service will take place at noon June 2 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Billie Jess of Papaaloa; son, James Lang of California; stepsons, Kenneth Brashear of California, Andrew Miller of Iowa; stepdaughter, Christie Odom of Texas; brother, Thomas Jess of California; sisters, Anita Jess, Pam McEntyre and Lorraine Galendo, all of California, Debbie Sweeney of Washington, Jennifer Harrington of Texas, Kathleen Jess of Colorado, Virginia LaBaha of Virginia, Marilyn Mayberry of Florida; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Drake Fujimoto

Drake Satoru Fujimoto, 72, of Naalehu died May 28, 2015. Born Jan. 5, 1943, in Honokaa, he was a glazier in the construction industry.

Private services are planned.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Fujimoto of Naalehu; son, Drake Fujimoto of Honolulu; daughters, Terry (Paul) Cabudol of Kahalui, Maui, Robin (Landish) Armitage of Mountain View; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Sakayo Komatsu

Sakayo Komatsu, 87, of Hilo died May 13, 2015, at her residence. Born May 4, 1928, in Kalaoa, she was a retired occupational therapist for Hilo Hospital and member of Hilo Hooganji Buddhist Temple.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughter, Kellie (Robert) Kaneshiro of Hilo; one granddaughter; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
