Tutu’s House lists program schedule
Tutu’s House in Waimea has announced the following programs:
“Life Is Worth Living Well” meets from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursdays, June 18 through July 16, with Rev. Dr. Virginia A. Barnes. The workshop will introduce practical ways to integrate physical, mental, spiritual and personal growth and understanding. Bring a journal or notebook and attend all or any Thursday in this series.
“Symphony of the Soil” is shown from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with Mike Puckett, sustainability educator. This film inspires the understanding that treating the soil right can help solve some of the most pressing environmental problems including climate change, dead zones, water scarcity and world hunger. “Symphony of the Soil” highlights possibilities of healthy soil creating healthy plants creating healthy humans living on a healthy planet. As time allows, Packett will facilitate conversation after the screening.
“Social Security 101” meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, with Ed Hickey, AARP volunteer.
“Seniors Safe and Independent” gives information for kupuna and their support network from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday. Lexi McKay of the Elder Abuse Prevention and Prosecution Unit of the Hawaii County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, will discuss how to recognize and avoid financial exploitation, and what resources are available in the community both to report abuse and to arrange services to keep a senior at home, safe and independent.
Tutu’s House welcomes all and shares a variety of educational resources in a safe place to explore health and wellness. There are no fees for its programs, but tax-deductible donations are welcome.
