Honolulu police officer accused of breaking into Oahu home

HONOLULU (AP) — An eight-year police veteran is scheduled to appear in Kaneohe District Court next month after he has been accused of breaking into a Kaneohe home.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/1GE7wWe ) that 53-year-old Richard Staszyn faces one count of second-degree criminal trespass and another charge of fourth-degree criminal property damage. Both charges are misdemeanors.

He has been placed on restricted duty,

A woman called police Wednesday to report a man trying to force his way into her house. Staszyn was arrested after the report.

His trial is scheduled for July 23.
