Editor’s note: This log of property crimes reported in the Kona District is a feature of West Hawaii Today and is compiled using Hawaii Police Department records. The department considers North and South Kona one district.

Burglary

June 8, an unknown party forced through a window by prying it open and removed $540 in items from a home on the 78-6600 block of Alii Drive in North Kona.

June 10, numerous items valued at $20,650 were removed from an unlocked home on the 77-6200 block of Mamalahoa Highway. Items stolen include a silver Rolex, diamond ring, $4,300 in U.S. currency, 14 medical marijuana plants, a Samsung security system, a 65-inch Samsung TV and a pellet gun in North Kona.

June 11, a suspect entering a hotel room through an unlocked sliding door removed a wallet with contents and a green backpack with Harper rental keys, valued at $90, from the 75-5800 block of Alii Drive in North Kona.

June 11, a suspect cut the lock to a storage area and removed a green Ranchero all-terrain vehicle estimated at $1,000 from the 75-5700 block of Alii Drive in North Kona.

June 11, it was discovered that a suspect had broken into a maintenance building by removing bolts from a security fence, and had taken a John Deere power washer from the 79-1000 block of Haukapila Street in North Kona.

June 22, a suspect entered a hotel room and removed 22 Tommy Bahama polo shirts, three pairs of Lennon pants, a black watch and other items with a total value of $6,110 from the 75-5700 block of Alii Drive in North Kona.

June 22, a suspect broke a downstairs window and frame and ate $5 worth of food from the kitchen before leaving through the same window on 76-5900 block of Mamalahoa Highway in North Kona.

Stolen vehicle

June 7, a 2007 Honda Metropolitan 49 cc mo-ped valued at $1,695 was reported stolen from 75-0200 block of Hualalai Road in North Kona.

June 8, a scooter was reported stolen from the 74-5500 block of Luhia Street in North Kona.

June 11, a blue 2002 Honda Metropolitan mo-ped with a basket on the front and a Hello Kitty decal on the body, bearing license plate HO4636, with vehicle identification number JH2AF60472K000052 was reported stolen from the 74-0900 block of Manawalea Street in North Kona.

June 12, a white 2013 Jeep Wrangler bearing license plate ZBF329 valued at $24,000 was reported stolen from the vicinity of Kuakini Highway in North Kona.

June 12, an orange Kymco mo-ped with registration number 69673 was reported stolen from a parking area on the 75-5800 block of Kuakini Highway in North Kona.

June 12, a white 2006 Toyota Corolla with a Thule rack with Killer Tacos and NRS stickers on the front of the rack was reported stolen from the 75-0100 block of Hualalai Road in North Kona.

June 14, a red 2007 Dodge 2500 four-door diesel pickup truck bearing license plate 308HDN, with an ATV trailer attached, was reported stolen from the vicinity of Makalei Golf Course in North Kona. The vehicle, which had been left with keys in the ignition, was last seen heading south on Hawaii Belt Road.

June 15, a red 2008 Ford Focus bearing license plate MRR624 was reported stolen in the vicinity of Pu Hoaloha Place in North Kona. The driver had reportedly left the vehicle running so a coworker could use it when a female jumped out of a brown Honda Civic and stole the Ford.

June 15, a red, black and silver Cody Jonway mo-ped valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from the 78-0100 block of Ehukai Street in North Kona.

June 16, a 2004 Honda Foreman ATV was reported stolen from a job site on Waiono Ranch Road in North Kona.

June 19, a vehicle valued at $1,000 bearing license plate MLU524 was reported stolen from the 74-5600 block of Palani Road in North Kona.

June 19, a red 1991 four-door Honda Accord, with peeling paint and dents on the passenger side door and hood, bearing license plate FVV192, was reported stolen from the 74-0900 block of Kealakeke Street in North Kona.

June 21, a white 2014 Honda Ruckus mo-ped with an orange seat, valued at $3,500, was reported stolen from the 75-0100 block of Hualalai Road in North Kona.

Theft from a vehicle

June 12, a suspect was observed via surveillance video entering two customer vehicles in a business parking lot on the 73-5500 block of Olowalu Street in North Kona.

June 13, credit cards and checking cards were reported stolen from a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in the vicinity of Kohanaiki Beach Park in North Kona. The suspect reportedly entered the vehicle using a spare key stored in the truck bed.

June 14, an iPhone 4 and a utility knife valued at $200 were stolen from a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on the 78-6600 block of Mamalahoa Highway in North Kona. An unknown suspect also reportedly damaged the ignition by trying to steal the vehicle.

June 16, snorkeling fins valued at $100 were reported stolen from the trunk of a rental car on the 75-5900 block of Alii Drive in North Kona.

June 21, a black backpack containing clothing and a wallet with $50 cash, a state ID card, a Hawaiian Kingdom ID and driver’s license and other cards was reported stolen from a Honda Civic in the vicinity of Likana Lane in North Kona.
