Class teaches how to write a business plan
A Hawaii Small Business Development Center Network class will provide step-by-step instructions on how to develop a business plan or revise an existing one.
The class is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hawaii SBDC Network, 75-5722 Kuakini Highway, Suite 216, Kailua-Kona. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $20 per person.

West Hawaii blood drives scheduled
Blood drives are planned at several West Hawaii locations in July. Two hundred blood donors are needed every day to meet the needs of Hawaii’s patients. It’s the blood on the shelves that save lives.
Those who donate before Sept. 7 may enter to win a four-night, five-day trip to Disneyland for a family of four.
Drives are subject to change.
Blood drives are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona Stake cultural hall, 75-230 Kalani St. In Waimea, blood can be given from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Waimea Ward cultural Hall, 65-1168 Kapiolani Road.
Those who wish to donate blood must be in good health, be at least 18 years old or 17 with signed Blood Bank of Hawaii parent/legal guardian consent form, weigh 110 pounds or more and bring a valid photo ID with date of birth.

Kona Brain Injury Support group to learn about testing
The Kona Brain Injury Support group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawaiian Rehab Services just mauka of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union on Hualalai Road.
Featured speaker Ann Palozzi is a neuropsychologist who will discuss the “Nuts and Bolts, Part B” of neuropsychological testing, such as indications for testing, what the testing is all about and how the results can be a map or guideline in rehabilitation.
Invited are all brain injury, stroke or other neuro-trauma survivors, their families and caregivers, interested professionals and the public.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park programs announced
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park will host Hawaiian culture and After Dark in the Park programs in July. All programs are free, but park entrance fees apply. A $2 donation helps support park programs.
Participants will learn to craft beautiful designs on a bamboo stamp to embellish cloth during an ohe kapala class from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday on the Kilauea Visitor Center lanai.
A deliberative discussion will be held with kumu Hula Manaiakalani Kalua and historian Philip K. Wilson on Kilauea’s place in Hawaiian culture and the history of science and where the two perspectives intersect. The talk is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. July 14 in the Kilauea Visitor Center Auditorium. Wilson is professor of history at East Tennessee State University and has been a visiting professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. One of his interests is in Hawaiian history, comparing the significance of Kilauea during the 19th century from the perspectives of naturalists, missionaries and Native Hawaiians.
Attendees at a Hawaiian ethnobotany class will learn about the uses and cultural importance of native plants and introduced Polynesian plants in Hawaii. The class is planned from 10 a.m. to noon July 22 on the Kilauea Visitor Center lanai. Participants at this hands-on event will leave with knowledge and a handmade Hawaiian craft of their own.
Kailua-Kona Seniors meets Wednesday
Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.
The facility will be open for board games, bingo, socializing and playing pool. July birthdays will be celebrated.

Line dancing classes offered in Kailua-Kona
Line dance classes begin Thursday at Kona United Methodist Church on Palani Road, offering a way for participants to exercise both the body and the brain.
Line dancing for beginners is from 6 to 7 p.m. through Aug. 27. Classes for more experienced dancers are from 7 to 8 p.m. Cost is $35 for the eight-week session or $7 for one class. For both hours, the session fee is $49 or $9 for one night.
Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and shoes, preferably no brand-new athletic shoes. All ages are welcome and children younger than 12 may attend free.
