Louisa Alani

Louisa Kawale Alani, 82, of Hookena died June 22, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 25, 1933, in Kaohe, she was a retired housekeeper at Kona Surf Hotel, worked as a housekeeper at the Kona Sunset and Kona Hukilau hotels and was a member of the Kaleohano-Kaupu Ohana and St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 17 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau for an all-night vigil. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. July 18 at the church for a 10 a.m. Mass with burial to follow in the church’s cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Harvy Alani Sr. of Hookena, Douglas (Brenda) Alani Sr. of Napoopoo; daughters, Glendora (Damien) Kenison Sr. and Bonnie Alani, both of Hookena; brother, Edward Kaleohano Sr. of Kealia; sisters, Susan Pua of Pahala, Constance (Donald) Pua of Keei; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna Clayton

Donna Joyce Clayton, 69, of Hilo died April 5, 2015, at her residence. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a florist, women’s advocate and substitute teacher.

Friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. July 18 at Carlsmith Beach Park in Keaukaha for a celebration of her life.

She is survived by daughter, Wendy Wells of Mountain View; sister, Barbara Paola of Hilo; brother, Alan Drettler of California; three granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.

Moses Makuakane

Moses “Boom, Mo” Alexander Makuakane, 37, of Pahoa died June 20, 2015, at home. Born Nov. 17, 1977, in Hilo, he was a car rental service agent for Enterprise Car Rental and member of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Cremation will be at Dodo Mortuary Crematory. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers and lei are welcome.

He survived by wife, Amber Makuakane of Pahoa; daughter, Alana Makuakane of Pahoa; son, Aaron James Makuakane of Pahoa; father, James Makuakane Sr. of Pahoa; brother, James (Irene Manarpaac) Makuakane Jr. of Hilo; sisters, Malia (Robert Lewis) Makuakane of Hilo, Mailelani Makuakane of Pahoa; hanai brother, Ikaika (Mailei Bumanglag) Kuahiwinui of Pahoa; grandmother, Mary Kuahiwinui of Hawaiian Beaches; father, Gunnar (Cathy) Botz of Pahoa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mary Warren

Mary Alana Warren, 95, of Kurtistown died July 4, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born Dec. 31, 1919, in Kurtistown, she was a retired postmistress and a former employee for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co., member of Ka Mauloa oka Malamalama Church in Kurtistown and Kurtistown 12 Mile Kumiai.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima section. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Andrew Warren of Kurtistown; brothers, Godwin (Ronnie) Nishikawa of Kurtistown, George Mai of Oahu; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
