Developers of luxury homes in South Kohala have sold the first seven units at the Residences of Laulea.

Contracts for all of the homes in the first phase of the project were secured Thursday, the first day that the units officially went on sale. The $20 million in sales means the second of three phases will be released this month, the project’s developer Stephen Patasky said. A total of 17 homes in the $2 million to $4 million range are planned for the Mauna Lani Resort project. Full buildout is expected by early 2017.

A nonbinding reservation list this spring exceeded the number of first units available. The 2,700- to 3,000-square-foot homes off South Kaniku Drive are inspired by traditional Hawaiian architecture and offer blended indoor and outdoor living spaces, four bedrooms, private pools, spas and access to beaches and resort amenities.
