Construction on a new beachside pavilion in Onekahakaha Beach Park near Hilo is set to start Monday.

The contractor, BCP Construction of Hawaii, will cordon off the Keaukaha end of the dirt parking lot. The lot will remain closed until the project is completed in December.

The rest of the park, including the adjacent bathrooms and picnic tables, will remain open.

“The Department of Parks and Recreation apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the construction project and thanks park users for their patience while the new pavilion is being built,” the department said in a press release.
