Gregory Bruckner

Gregory William Bruckner, 68, of Florida and formerly of Kailua-Kona died July 17, 2015, in Leesburg, Fla. He was a naval shipyard machinist and Marine Corp veteran.

A graveside service begins at 9 a.m. July 30 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona.

He is survived by wife, Charlotte Bruckner of Florida.

Aaron Barrett

Aaron Matthew Barrett, 34, of Waimea died July 22, 2015, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born March 24, 1981, in Provo, Utah, he worked as a journeyman electrician, was an accomplished artist, a sailor and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 31 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows in the church’s cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by sons, Aden and Matthew Barrett, both of Waimea; parents, Jeff and Connie Barrett of Waimea; brothers, Jeffery (Christine) Barrett of California, Jacob (Liliana) Barrett of Waimea; sister, Christie Barrett-Dean of Waimea; paternal grandmother, Eunice Barrett of Logan, Utah; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Crystal Fernandes

Crystal Annette Keonaona Fernandes, 41, of Hilo died July 4, 2015, at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center on Oahu. Born Aug. 27, 1973, in Honolulu, she was a store manager for Walmart in Hilo and Lihue, Kauai and a former co-manager for Walmart in Mililani, Oahu.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 31 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Cremation will follow. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by wife, Anessa Fernandes of Hilo; daughter, Ashley (Joseph, III) Borges of Oahu; son, Victor Velazquez of North Dakota; mother, Annette (Wes) Byrd of Hilo; brothers, Alexander (Clarissa) Fernandes of Hilo, Robert (Megan) Fernandes of Ewa Beach, Oahu; sister, Amber Fernandes of Oahu; three grandsons; one granddaughter; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley Matsunaka

Shirley Etsuko Matsunaka, 79, of Hilo died July 18, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Oct. 10, 1935, in Hilo, she was a retired office clerk for the state Department of Taxation and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Shin Buddhist Temple and Komohana Kumiai.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 31 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. A graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua section). Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by son, Oren (Robin) Matsunaka of Hilo; daughters, Wendy (Noel) Fujimoto, Dale (Miles) Fujiyoshi and Corey (Brian) Ishimoto, all of Hilo; brother, Leslie Nishihara of Kona; sisters, Jean (Darwin) Sindt of San Diego, Sharon (Milton) Yamamoto of Honolulu, Helene (Bertram) Carvalho and Cindy (Wade) Takimoto, both of Hilo; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Florentina Palafox

Florentina Guzman Palafox, 88, of Waimea died July 14, 2015, at her residence. Born in Paauilo, she worked at The Orchid at Mauna Lani as a laundry attendant and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waimea.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. July 31 at the family residence, 64-5241 Nani Waimea St., for an all-night vigil, followed by a service. Burial of ashes follows at a later date at the Waimea County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Flodelino (Carmelita) Palafox of Waimea, Orlando (Maggie) Palafox of Honokaa, Generoso (Maryjean) Palafox of Kona, Marcelino (Marcie) Palafox of Waikoloa; daughters, Patrocina Alacantara of Waimea, Gemma (Jason) Fujii of Honokaa; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Miki Pousima

Miki Winter Pousima, 60, of Kailua-Kona died July 20, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 24, 1954, in Neiafu, Tonga, he was a Methodist minister, worked for J.E. Merks Construction Co. and was a former employee of the Kona Ice House.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 31 at the Church of Nazarene on Palani Road in Kailua-Kona for an all-night vigil. Friends may also call at 6 a.m. Aug. 1 at the church for a 7 a.m. service. Burial follows at Alae County cemetery in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Tumama Pousima of Kailua-Kona; sons, Mokoi (Ulu) Pousima of Reno, Nev., Tovia (Emeline) Tufuga of Lahania, Maui, Stephen (Candice) Pola of Hilo, Tauinaola Mapu of Kailua-Kona, Siope (Hoku) Pousima of Honolulu; daughters, Anamalia (Jerry) Maga of Lahaina, Maui, Noti (Lance) Samoa and Cathlyn (Toni) Tafea, both of Kailua-Kona, Menorah (Poasi) Kaho of Honolulu; brothers, Sitiveni (Ailine) Pousima of Hilo, Amasaia (Valo) Pousima of American Samoa, Nisalati Pousima of San Francisco; sisters, Kaesita Anitema, Simoa Nau, Atela (Sione) Vakalahi and Siuiholeva (Saulala) Alo, all of Tonga, Ilaise Kuresa of Hilo; 22 grandchildren; numerous aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family of Alexander “Pancho” Paglinawan Jr., 55, of Hilo has announced a service date.

Friends may call from 4 to 10 p.m. Aug. 14 at Oahu Veteran’s Centers for a celebration of life. Friends may also call at noon Aug. 16 at the Onekahakaha Beach Park in Hilo for services.
