Sylvia Bilter

Sylvia Mae Bilter, 92, of Kailua-Kona died July 21, 2015, at her residence. Born Aug. 22, 1922, in St. Charles, Ill., she was a homemaker.

Private service were held. Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Sims of Captain Cook, Jacque (Jesse) Kunewa of Kailua-Kona; three grandsons; one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Itsue Crook

Itsue Crook, 85, of Hilo and formerly of Naalehu died Dec. 26, 2014, at home. Born in Naalehu, she was previously employed by the state school system and two subsidiaries of C. Brewer & Co.

Private services were held.

She is survived by husband, Edward Crook of Hilo; sons, Delbert Ishimaru of Kona, Ryan (Quan) Ishimaru of Portland, Ore., Donald (Patti) Crook of Texas; daughter, Gaye Ishimaru of Hilo; brother, Kenneth (Joan) Oyama of Honolulu; sisters, Chiyoko Ishimaru and Mabel (Richard) Kanbe, both of Honolulu; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nathaniel Glander

Nathaniel Alan Glander, 99, of Keaau died July 15, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ohio, he was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Loma Linda, Calif., and member of the Puna Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Services will be held in Loma Linda, Calif.

He is survived by wife, Genevieve Glander of Keaau; son, Jerry (Nani) Glander of Keaau; daughter, Jean (Gary) Steger of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Sam Choy Yee

Sam Choy “Amoi” Yee, 101, of Hilo died in a private nursing home in Hilo. Born Oct. 20, 1913, in Waipahu, Oahu, she was a housewife and member of the United Community Church in Hilo.

Private services were held. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, the family suggests a donation may be made to a charity in her name.

She is survived by daughters, Carol (Hop) Jeong of San Lorenzo, Calif., Marion Leighton of Modesto, Calif., Geraldine (Robert) Fulton of Carson City, Nev., Myrna Yee of Hayward, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Ann Gota

Ann Natsuko Gota, 86, of Hilo died July 10, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a cosmetologist and owner of the former Ann’s Beauty Salon and member of Hawaii County RSVP.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughters, Gayla (Clint) Coloma of Hilo, Claire (Philip) Kau of Honolulu; sister, Naomi (Goro) Asato of San Diego; two grandchildren; four nieces.

Josephine Beyer

Josephine Lowe Beyer, 94, of Kailua-Kona died July 26, 2015. Born Nov. 27, 1920, in Detroit, she was a homemaker.

Private service were held.

She is survived by daughter, D. Hunter Beyer of Volcano; son, Peter (Jacki) Beyer of Ann Arbor; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
