AARP Smart Driver class planned
An AARP Smart Driver class will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Palisades Recreation Center on lower Kaiminani Drive.
This class covers subjects that may affect drivers as they age, such as hearing, eyesight, reflexes, safety rules, road rage, rules of the road, problems at intersections, drinking and driving and other subjects.
Participants may receive a discount on their auto insurance.

Workshop explores intimacy in a committed relationship
An Intimacy in a Committed Relationship workshop will be taught by unconditional loving life coach Sharon A. Winningham from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at New Thought Center of Hawaii, 81-6587 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite C302, in Kealakekua.
The workshop will look at the challenges committed couples face in the form of intimacy and how to keep the relationship fresh. Cost is $25.
Winningham will also present “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the interfaith Sunday service at New Thought Center.

New podiatry office opens in Kona
Dr. Brigette F. Kuhn will open a new podiatry office Sept. 1 in Kailua-Kona, partnering with cardiologist Lawrence Derbes at 75-184 Hualalai Road.
The practice is an addition to her Honolulu and Waipahu, Oahu, offices. It will fill a need in the community for podiatry services, particularly with the growing diabetic population.
Kuhn graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and obtained her medical and clinical training as a podiatric medical and surgical resident at Veterans Affairs-Newington, Conn. and Tripler Army Medical Center. Kuhn has more than 20 years experience.
The practice will offer foot and toenail care, diabetes footcare management, PAD/circulation testing, affordable compression stocking therapy and affordable custom orthotics. The office also introduces a noninvasive diagnostic ultrasound to diagnose and help treat varicose veins and circulation problems.
