Waimea Country School service project continues

Waimea Country School continues its community service project of donating both food and labor to the Annunciation Community Food Pantry. The project, now in its seventh year, predates the current class of fourth- and fifth-grade students, pictured here with Food Pantry Coordinator Ann Lum, center, most of whom started with the school in kindergarten in the 2010-11 year. The students and families of Waimea Country School have made a real difference. In the last six years, the school donated 6,117 pounds of food for those in need. During that same period, student volunteers, working about 27 Tuesdays in a school year, repackaged 21,495 pounds of rice, to be distributed to families.
