No one was injured after a SUV allegedly ignored a stop sign and struck a school bus carrying children Wednesday morning in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, the Hawaii Police Department reported.
The Akita Enterprises bus was headed south at 6:42 a.m. on Princess Kaiulani Drive when the silver SUV, traveling west on Lehua Parkway and operated by a 42-year-old man, reportedly ran a stop sign and collided with the bus.
The SUV hit the middle left side of the bus, knocking parts of the undercarriage to the ground, police said. The SUV sustained extensive front-end damage, peeling the hood up and forcing the bumper to the ground.
Twelve school children, ages 13 to 17, and a 50-year-old man driving the bus reported no injuries, according to police.
No arrests were made, said Chris Loos, HPD spokeswoman.
