Sally Haina

Sally Kuulei Haina, 71, of Honaunau died July 18, 2015 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Aug. 11, 1943, in North Kona, she was a factory supervisor for Mac Farms of Hawaii and a former member of the Kaahumanu Society.

A celebration of her life begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Milolii Village Pavilion in Milolii. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flower lei are welcome.

She is survived by sons, Clinton Haina Jr., of Hilo, Clayton (Kristyn) Haina Sr., of Ocean View; daughters, Theresa (Jeff) Haalilio Sr. and Leeann (Eric Sesson) Haina, both of Ocean View, Tiare (Guy) Mamac Sr. of Honaunau, Elisalyn (Dwight) Carvalho of Hilo; brothers, Alfred (Gail) Uina Sr. and John (Twila) Uina, both of Kailua-Kona; adopted brother, Robert Uina of Alaska; sisters, Nancy (Kerry) Yamamoto of Ocean View, Janet Higa and Marie (Duncan) Henry, both of Oahu; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shunichi Hatada

Shunichi Hatada, 95, of Hilo died Aug. 31, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 30, 1920, in Hilo, he was the retired president of Hatada and Robert’s Bakeries, an Army veteran of the 442nd Infantry Regiment and member the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Sept. 26 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sons, Wesley (Gayle) Hatada of Hilo, Maurice Hatada of Honolulu; daughter, Frances (Glenn) Sadayasu of Hilo; brothers, Kengo Hatada of Hilo, George (Lorraine) Hatada of California; sister, Betty (Stan) Hirota of Oregon; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose Maeda

Rose “Loke” Phillip Maeda, 95, of Niulii died Sept. 7, 2015, on Oahu. Born at home in Waiapuka, North Kohala, she was a homemaker.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Kohala Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at the Hawi County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Alvin (Anita) Maeda and Danny Maeda, both of Hilo; daughter, Sylvia (Brian) Hussey of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, James (Lorraine) Phillip of California, Charles Phillip of Florida; sisters, Theresa Mahi of Kona, Daisy (Robert) Naihe of Hilo, Cynthia (Fred) Hatanaka of California, Esther Maeda and Vivian Kim, both of North Kohala; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Melveen Worcester

Melveen Kahealani (Leslie) Worcester, 39, of Livingston, Mont., died Aug. 15, 2015. Born Oct. 25, 1975, in Hilo, she was as a massage therapist and veterinary technician.

A celebration of life begins at 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Sadie Seymour Botanical Gardens (formerly known as Kona Outdoor Circle) followed by a 3 p.m. service. Refreshments follow.

She is survived by husband, Edward Worcester of Livingston, Mont.; parents, Johanna and Milton Leslie Sr. of Kealakekua; brothers, Milton (Melody) Leslie Jr. of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Marcus Leslie of Michigan City, Ind.; one nephew; two nieces.
