The Rev. Wilbur Kelly

The Rev. Wilbur Meldon Kelly, 86, of Hilo died Sept. 21, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Jackson, Minn., he was the retired minister at Agat General Baptist Church in Guam, retired associate pastor at the United Community Church in Hilo, retired American Government teacher at George Washington High School in Guam, former chaplain for the American Legion Post 3 and a Korean War Army veteran.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Sept. 30 at United Community Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, donations in his memory may be made to Hilo United Community Church or a charity of choice.

He is survived by wife, Marjorie Kelly of Hilo; sons, David (Maria) Kelly of Riverside, Calif., Kent Kelly of Orange County, Calif.; sister, Kay Dingman of Arizona; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Young

Charles “Sonny” Ah Cho Young, 82, of Naalehu died Sept. 2, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 4, 1933, in Kealakekua, he was a licensed general contractor, owner and operator of A.C. Young Enterprises, a licensed contractor and owner of A.C. Young Farms, sole proprietor of Charlie’s Water Service, contractor for Cook’s Landing subdivision in Captain Cook, a private manager and owner of several macadamia nut orchards, vegetable farmer, bulldozer operator, past chairman and co-chairman for Ka‘u Soil and Water Conservation District, past president and vice president for Ka‘u Lions Club, member of Hawaii County Farm Bureau, Ka‘u Chamber of Commerce and Kaleohano-Wentworth ohana and honorably discharged from the National Guard Territory of Hawaii.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Oct. 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. Oct. 2 at the chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial is at 1 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Young of Naalehu; son, Randall Young of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Barbara Young of Naalehu, Charlett (Patrick) Kaaihue of Honaunau; sisters, Daisy Fujimoto and Pearl Yasuhara, both of Honolulu, Mary (Lawrence) Luna of California, Barbara Schmitt of Texas, Sandra (Albert) Duarte of Holualoa; half brother, Nalani Kaapana of Kailua, Oahu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn DePeralta

Evelyn DePeralta, 64, of Naalehu died Sept. 7, 2015. Born April 19, 1951, in Honolulu, she worked as a husker for Mac Farms of Hawaii.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 3, for a celebration of her life at Waiohinu Park.

She is survived by brothers, Victor (Virginia) DePeralta and Edward (Priscilla) DePeralta, both of Hilo, Melvin (Tessie) DePeralta of Kailua-Kona, Eric DePeralta of Naalehu; sisters, Bernice (William) Albair and Sally (Manuel) Derego, both of Honokaa, Cynthia (David) Barthel of Bakersfield, Calif., Loretta DePeralta of Naalehu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Isaac Kaohe Jr.

Isaac David Kaohe Jr., 65, of Waianae, Oahu, died Sept. 14, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Honolulu.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Oct. 10 at Moanalua Mortuary on Oahu for a 6 p.m. service. Refreshments follow.

He is survived by wife, Irma Kaohe; son, Isaac (Hiiaka) Kaohe III; daughter, Iris (Henry) David; sisters, Margaret (Sam) Woodward, Betty Jean (Dave) Baldwin, Joyce (John) Sevaaetasi; brother, Fred Kaohe; seven grandchildren.

Madrid Uso Jr.

Madrid Uso Jr., 68, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 4, 2015. Born Sept. 10, 1946, in Mexico City, he was an Air Force veteran and dentist.

Private services are planned.

He is survived by wife, Jenny Uso of Kailua-Kona; son, Madrid (Kristine) Uso III of Klamath Falls, Ore.; daughter, Marseille Okoneski of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; brother, Lon (Cheryl) Uso of Cool, Calif.; sisters, Francia Miller of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Grecia Hill of Oahu; four grandchildren; one nephew; one niece.

Thomas Kiyotsuka

Thomas Yasuo Kiyotsuka, 69, of Hilo died Aug. 22, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a maintenance worker for the former Hilo Lanes bowling alley and member of Konko Mission of Hilo.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

He is survived by brothers, Roy (Teru) Kiyotsuka, Kenneth (Diane) Kiyotsuka and Larry (Eulanda) Kiyotsuka, all of Hilo, Clarence (Katy) Kiyotsuka of Honolulu; sister, Florence Hensen of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Proctor

Elizabeth Marie Proctor, 91, of Hilo died Sept. 11, 2015, at her residence. Born June 15, 1924, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by son, Glenn (Jet) Proctor of Hilo; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose Tamamoto

Rose Kuulei Keonaona Pualoke Tamamoto, 73, of Hilo died Sept. 15, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Honolulu, she was a personal caregiver and member of Divine Church of God on Oahu.

Private services were held.

She is survived by sons, William Mathewson and Raymond Mathewson, both of Honolulu, Jason (Yvette) Tamamoto of Salem, Ore.; daughters, Yvonne Mathewson and Verna Iliwaalani, both of Hilo; brother, Stanley Garcia of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
