Marciel Maldonado

Marciel “Maldo” Maldonado, 86, of Keaau died Sept. 23, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born March 20, 1929, in Kukuihaele, he was a retired civil servant, a former bus driver for Mass Transit Lines on Oahu, a former commercial truck driver for Richard Lee &Co. and an Army veteran.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo, for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sons, Anthony (Janice) Maldonado, James (Mimi) Maldonado; daughters, Betty (Randy Bridges) Maldonado, Stephanie Maldonado, Vanessa Maldonado-Crail; brother, Albert (Julia) Maldonado; sisters, Alice Oliver, Betty Maldonado Rodrigues; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda Kaulunahele

Linda Kaulunahele, also known as “Leah” Kaulunahele, 71, of Honokaa died Sept. 2, 2015, at St. Francis Hospice in Honolulu. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired machine operator for Waikoloa Land Co.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 3 at Our Lady of Lourds Catholic Church in Honokaa for a Mass. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by brother, Kenneth (Dawn) Rillanos; sister, Diane (Phillip) Akao; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Juanita Miguel

Juanita Miguel, 84, of Hilo died Sept. 4, 2015, at Pohai Malama Hospice of Hilo Care Facility.Born in Ilocas Norte, Philippines, she was a retired custodian for Mililani High School.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo, for a 10 a.m. Mass. A funeral service will be held in Honolulu at a later date.

She is survived by sons, Mario Miguel of Hilo; stepson, Mariano Miguel Jr. of Texas; daughters, Charlotte Yacapin of Wahiawa, Oahu; stepdaughters, Ethel Miguel of Mililani, Oahu, Eileen Lewis of California; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Motomi Imanaka

Motomi S. Imanaka, 86, of Hilo died Sept. 16, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Dec. 2, 1928, in Hilo, she was a retired bank teller for Pioneer Federal Savings and Loans and member of Heritage Christian Fellowship Church and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by husband, Thomas Imanaka of Hilo; son, James Imanaka of Hilo; daughter, Susan Segawa of Hilo; brothers, Futoshi Shintani and Koji Shintani, both of Hilo; sister, Faye Hasegawa of Honolulu; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris Nakamoto

Doris Toshiko Nakamoto, 80, of Hilo died Sept. 4, 2015, at a care home in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by sons, Derek (Joy) Nakamoto and Dale (Lisa) Nakamoto, both of Hilo; daughters, Lynn Shindo of Hilo, Zina (Troy Perry) Lee of Maui; brothers, Eric (Naomi) Takai of Waipahu, Oahu, Ted (Ethel) Takai of Aiea, Oahu; sisters, Grace (Ben) Iwasaki of Waipahu, Oahu, Dorothy Sasaki of Kauai; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nephews and nieces.

Kataru Yano

Kataru Yano, 99, of Honolulu died Sept. 22, 2015, at Palolo Chinese Home. Born May 10, 1916, in Kawaihae, he was a retired superintendent for Pacific Construction Co. and an Army veteran.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Evan Utako Yano of Honolulu; daughter, Alma Yano of Hilo; brothers, Shoniro Yano of Honokaa, Yoshiro Yano of Aiea, Oahu; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Debra Shearin

Debra Lee Shearin, 63, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 15, 2015, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. She was a retired hospitality worker.

She is survived by sister, Pamela (Daryl) Williams of Vancouver, British Columbia; cousins.
