Run with the Bulls at Parker School

Parker School invites the community to “run with the bulls” at the school’s 16th Annual George Heneghan Fun Run and Color Stampede on Oct. 17 at the school’s lower campus. The “bull” is Parker School’s mascot, a nod to the school’s paniolo and ranching roots.

As a color stampede, or color run, participants are splashed with different colored powder throughout the race.

“Last year was our biggest turnout with 190 people from 3 to 70 years old,” says Nicole Vedelli, Athletic Director at Parker School.

This event is open to the public and consists of a 1K Keiki Run which starts at 7:30 a.m. for kids ages 11 and under, followed by a 5K Fun Run/Walk at 8 a.m. This fun, healthy event was established in 1999 in memory of Hawaii architect George Heneghan, an accomplished athlete, teacher and Parker cross country and track coach from 1992 to 1998.

“We are happy to provide our community with a fun, healthy activity with the hope that our school’s athletic department can inspire others to stay active,” says Vedelli.

Entry fee is $30 for adults and $25 for kids 11 and under. Registration forms are due by Oct. 7. Late registrations are not guaranteed a t-shirt on race day. Race day check-in opens at 6:45 a.m. at Parker’s Lower School and registration will not be accepted on race day.

Medals will be awarded to first place overall male and female finishers in the 5K run/walk and 1K run/walk, and first place finishers in each age category. All proceeds will support Parker’s athletics program.
