Kona Amateur Radio Society meets Sunday
The Kona Amateur Radio Society will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the south end of Wawaloli Beach Park at Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority.
All members, friends, and those interested in HAM radio are invited. Attendees should bring a Scandinavian dish to share during the potluck picnic.

Swap meet to benefit amateur radio clubs
The Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Waimea Community Center, next to the ball field off Mamalahoa Highway.
Raffle tickets will be sold for big ticket items. A $5 cash donation will be requested at the door. All proceeds benefit area amateur radio clubs sponsoring the event.
At noon, Jim Tiemstra, vice director of the American Radio Relay League Pacific Division, will give a video presentation of the ARRL headquarters and provide information on the Pacific division with a mini forum to follow.
License testing will start at 1 p.m.
Those desiring to test for initial license or upgrade are asked to bring a current driver’s license or passport, a copy of their current Federal Communications Commission license or CSCE if applicable, and $15 cash in exact change. Auntie’s Angels seeks fresh food donations for seniors
Auntie’s Angels, a nonprofit that serves low-income seniors living at Hualalai Elderly Housing, will hold its monthly “Soup Kitchen n Pantry” on Saturday. The nonprofit is asking for donations of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with canned goods, paper products and personal hygiene items.
The nonprofit is also in its planning stages of the third annual Christmas luncheon, needing volunteers, door prizes and dessert table items.

Hawaii Island doctor publishes book
After 12 years in Kailua-Kona, Dr. Nancy Lins is now available via the Internet for patients on the Big Island.
