Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii receives $25,000 Walmart grant

Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii recently received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s Hawaii State Giving Council. The grant will be used to purchase additional tools, allowing Habitat construction crews and volunteers to work on more than one home at a time.

“Walmart’s generous grant will allow us to expand our construction efforts, reaching more families, building more homes, and strengthening communities on the island,” said Isobel Donovan, development director for Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii. “Our vision is that all the residents of West Hawaii will have safe and decent affordable housing.”

The grant was made through the Walmart Foundation’s Hawaii State Giving Council Program, which provides grants, based on recommendations from the State Giving Program’s Advisory Council. The Walmart Foundation has an Advisory Council in each state, made up of Walmart associates representing local communities who help identify needs within each state, review all eligible grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Walmart Foundation.

To be considered for support, prospective grantee organizations must submit applications through the Walmart Foundation Hawaii State Giving Program’s online grant application. More information is available at walmartfoundation.org/stategiving.
