Tony Award-winner and Grammy Award-nominee Lisa Hopkins Seegmiller will perform Nov. 6 at the luxurious Sullivan Estate in Puako. The performance is a part of the 15th season of the Hoku Concert Series and is a benefit for Kahilu Theatre.

Seegmiller is a nationally acclaimed cross-over artist and vocal pedagogue, who was trained at Juilliard, Yale University, and the Manhattan School of Music. Lauded by Opera News as “the kind of camera-ready young singer today’s marketing directors dream of,” she occupies today’s hottest niche where Hollywood meets opera meets Broadway.

In 2003, Seegmiller, best known for her portrayal of Mimi in Baz Lurhmann’s 2002-03 production of “La boheme” on Broadway, received a Tony Award for Excellence in the Theatre Lead Role. In 2010, she was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording for her role in the recording of “Volpone” with the Wolftrap Opera Company.

The Kahilu Theatre event is made possible by sponsorship by Kathy Sullivan, and Marcia and Stanley Wishnick.

Tickets are $133 and can be purchased online at www.kahilutheatre.org, by calling 885-6868, or at the Kahilu Theatre Box Office at 67-1186 Lindsey Road in Waimea from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Seegmiller will also headline another Hoku Concert Series event on Nov. 7 at Hawaiian Queen Gardens that benefits the Aloha Performing Arts Company. A one-hour reception precedes the 7:30 p.m. performance. Tickets are limited and cost $100. Ticket includes light pupu and two beverages.
