Swimmers compete in the Crazy Big Swim at the Kona Community Aquatic Center on Friday.

The Crazy Big Swim is a charity event hosted nationwide by Swim Across America and Team Unify.

A total of 18 swimmers competed in the event from the Big Island with 3,480 swimmers competing across the United States.

The charity race raised $145,440 for St. Jude Hospital, with 100-percent of the money going to childhood cancer research.
